Microsoft Word and Excel filesThis website occasionally uses Microsoft Word and Excel files. If you do not have these programs on your computer, you can download readers free of charge that will allow you to view these documents. Download Microsoft Word Viewer [1.2MB] Download Microsoft Excel Viewer [1MB] About MP3 and MPEG3 filesThese files are used to deliver audio and video content. They are large files and as they may take some time to download are best suited to broadband connections. For visitors accessing the web using a dial-up modem, a 10MB file downloading through a 56 Kb modem will usually take about 30 minutes. Website accessibility tipsThe navigation elements at the head and foot of each page on this website have been set up with keyboard shortcuts. The shortcuts operate as follows:
Note: Internet Explorer users need to hit Return to activate the shortcut. Mac users: Use Control-1, Control-2 etc. Please note that Netscape 4 does not support these shortcuts. They are fully implemented in Netscape 6 and later, and partially in Internet Explorer 5.5 . Tabbing through page links This site uses style-sheet driven menus, but for navigation using the Tab key, links activated by the Tab key include only the top menu item and exclude the drop down menus, thereby minimising the time taken to navigate in this way. All menus are replicated as conventional links in the "landing page" accessed by each top menu link. Reverse tabbing through page links is possible using Shift-Tab. Bypassing repetitive navigation links On all pages on this site a bypass link is provided at the top of the page to take the user to the start of the main body text. This is the first link activated by pressing the Tab key when the page has loaded. It is evident to non-graphic browser users and appears in regular browsers via the Tab key. Tabbing between fields in forms All forms allow tabbing between consecutive fields. Note: when using the TAB key to proceed through form fields, please use the arrow keys to select unchecked radio buttons, in conjunction with the TAB key. New browser windows Every link on this site opens in the existing browser window. Multi-column tables To improve accessibility for assisted technologies, the AusAID Internet site makes minimal use of multi-column tabular information. Javascript and drop-down menus This site makes limited use of Javascript. However, your browser must must have Javascript enabled to use the drop-down navigation menus. To view this site properly, please enable Javascript in your browser. If you are unable to do this, the main link on each navigation drop down will take you to a page that allows navigation to the other pages in the menu. The main drop down navigation menus work on all modern browsers but not on IE5 on a Macintosh running OS9. However, the default link displayed at the top of each menu will take you to a "landing page" which offers access to the sub-pages. Further assistancePeople with disabilities who require assistance in accessing AusAID publications should call AusAID on (02) 6206 4000 and ask for website access support.
